£65,362 per annum + Shift Allowance + Annual Bonus

Working Pattern

40 hours per week on a rotating 24/7 shift pattern, including nights.


The Opportunity

An industry-leading Energy Recovery and Power Generation organisation is seeking an experienced Shift Team Leader to oversee the safe, efficient and compliant operation of a large-scale process plant.

This is a key leadership role responsible for managing shift operations, driving operational performance, maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance, and ensuring maximum plant availability and energy output.

The successful candidate will lead operational teams, supervise contractors, and act as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) within a highly regulated industrial environment.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Lead and supervise the shift operations team.
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the facility.
  • Maximise plant throughput, availability and operational performance.
  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of all process systems.
  • Support operational continuity through effective shift management.

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Promote a strong safety culture across the site.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental procedures.
  • Act as Senior Authorised Person (SAP) in accordance with Safe Systems of Work.
  • Supervise contractors and permit-controlled activities.
  • Conduct emergency response, safety and environmental drills.

Incident Management

  • Lead investigations into accidents, incidents and near misses.
  • Complete root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate operational records and compliance documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

Stakeholder & Team Management

  • Deliver shift briefings and operational communications.
  • Develop and support operational team members.
  • Build strong working relationships across engineering, maintenance and management functions.
  • Ensure all visitors and contractors receive appropriate site inductions.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Previous supervisory or management experience within an industrial environment.
  • Engineering qualification (ONC, HNC or equivalent).
  • IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
  • Experience operating within Safe Systems of Work.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.

Desirable

  • Management or Leadership qualification.
  • Senior Authorised Person (SAP) experience.
  • Energy from Waste, Power Generation, Utilities, Process Manufacturing or Royal Navy engineering background.

Safety & Compliance Manager

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Safety & Compliance Manager to join a major industrial processing and energy operation in the Glasgow area.

This is a key operational leadership role within a highly regulated environment, focused on driving a strong safety culture, maintaining environmental and compliance standards, and supporting the safe and efficient operation of a large-scale processing facility.

This is a predominantly operational, “boots on the ground” position where visible leadership, workforce engagement, and proactive safety management are essential.

The Role

Reporting directly into the Plant Leadership Team, the Safety & Compliance Manager will act as the site lead for all Health, Safety, Environmental and Compliance activities across the facility.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Leading site health, safety and compliance activities across a complex operational environment
  • Managing and continually improving safety systems, procedures, SSOW and risk assessments
  • Supporting compliance with environmental permits, ISO standards and regulatory obligations
  • Leading incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Monitoring contractor activities and ensuring compliance during maintenance and shutdown activities
  • Delivering audits, inspections and compliance reviews across the site
  • Driving behavioural safety initiatives and promoting a proactive safety culture
  • Delivering toolbox talks, training and workforce engagement activities
  • Supporting planned outages, shutdowns and maintenance activities from a safety and compliance perspective
  • Producing KPI reports, compliance data and site performance reporting
  • Liaising with regulators, inspectors and internal stakeholders as required
  • Working closely with Operations and Maintenance teams to support safe and efficient plant performance

Candidate Profile

We are keen to speak with candidates who have experience within highly regulated industrial or process environments such as:

  • Waste Management / Energy from Waste
  • Power Generation
  • Chemical Manufacturing / COMAH
  • Heavy Manufacturing
  • Recycling & Resource Recovery
  • Hazardous Waste
  • Utilities / Process Industries

Experience within the waste or Energy from Waste sector would be highly desirable, however strong adjacent process industry experience will also be considered.

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • Proven Health & Safety leadership within a complex operational environment
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and compliance requirements
  • Experience with ISO45001 and awareness of ISO14001 / ISO9001 standards
  • Experience leading investigations, audits and contractor management activities
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Operationally focused mindset with a visible leadership style
  • NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent)
  • Ability to work effectively across Operations, Engineering and Maintenance teams

Mechanical Technician – O&M

Role Overview

Under general maintenance supervision, you will carry out mechanical maintenance activities to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. The role focuses on maintaining equipment performance in line with production targets and HSEQ standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs across plant systems and equipment in line with HSEQ procedures
  • Plan, execute, and document maintenance tasks, including risk assessments and hazard identification
  • Inspect, lubricate, and adjust plant equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safe working practices across site
  • Support team members and promote a strong safety-first culture
  • Participate in HSE inspections, audits, and safety meetings
  • Report any HSE concerns, non-compliance, or equipment issues promptly

Qualifications & Experience

  • Recognised engineering apprenticeship (essential)
  • Experience within a heavy industrial or process environment
  • Strong knowledge of gearboxes, conveyors, valves, steam systems, and hydraulics
  • Experience with fault finding, maintenance planning, and outage support
  • IOSH Managing Safely and/or HNC/HND in Engineering (desirable)
