Location: Ayrshire, Scotland

The Opportunity

We are working on behalf of a leading UK construction business to recruit an experienced M&E Project Manager / M&E Site Manager for a major new-build education project in Ayrshire.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established project team delivering a high-profile public sector development. You'll take ownership of the Mechanical & Electrical package, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Project Manager, Design Team and specialist M&E subcontractors throughout the full construction lifecycle, from installation through commissioning and handover.

The Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of all Mechanical & Electrical works on site.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the full M&E package from installation through to commissioning and handover.
  • Coordinating mechanical and electrical subcontractors to ensure works are delivered safely and efficiently.
  • Monitoring programme, quality and productivity against project milestones.
  • Chairing and attending coordination meetings with subcontractors, consultants and the client team.
  • Managing commissioning activities and witnessing testing where required.
  • Ensuring compliance with all Health & Safety legislation, company procedures and site standards.
  • Reviewing technical drawings, specifications and identifying design or installation clashes.
  • Working closely with the commercial team regarding variations, progress and project costs.
  • Carrying out quality inspections, snagging and ensuring defects are closed out.
  • Supporting project reporting, programme updates and client communications.
  • Managing the production and completion of O&M manuals, as-built documentation and final handover information.

About You

  • Electrical Site Manager

Experience within principal contractors or leading M&E contractors will be highly regarded.

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience delivering Mechanical & Electrical packages on construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of building services installations, including mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, programme and site coordination.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Excellent Health & Safety knowledge.
  • SMSTS (or equivalent).
  • CSCS Card.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Experience

Experience working on projects such as:

  • Hospitals
  • Commercial developments
  • Public sector buildings
  • Large industrial or manufacturing facilities
  • Data centres

Previous experience with recognised M&E contractors or principal contractors would be advantageous.
