The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a leading operator within the UK's energy sector.

Working on a large, highly automated continuous process plant, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the facility. You will take ownership of mechanical engineering activities, lead maintenance planning and shutdowns, manage contractors and technicians, and drive improvements in plant reliability and performance.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to take ownership of a critical industrial facility while working within a business that invests heavily in its people and assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all mechanical engineering and maintenance activities across the site.
  • Plan, coordinate and execute planned and unplanned maintenance shutdowns.
  • Maximise plant availability, reliability and asset performance.
  • Manage mechanical technicians and provide day-to-day technical leadership.
  • Coordinate statutory inspections and ensure compliance documentation is maintained.
  • Manage mechanical contractors and service providers to achieve safety, quality and performance objectives.
  • Oversee the mechanical workshop and engineering stores.
  • Ensure effective use of the site's Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Promote a strong health, safety and environmental culture across all maintenance activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve plant reliability and maintenance performance.
  • Work closely with Electrical and Controls & Instrumentation Engineers as part of the wider engineering team.

About You

We're interested in speaking with Mechanical Engineers who have experience within heavy industrial or continuous process environments.

You should also have:

  • HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience managing mechanical maintenance activities within a process plant.
  • Experience planning maintenance shutdowns and outages.
  • Knowledge of Permit to Work and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Experience managing contractors and engineering service providers.
  • Experience using CMMS systems such as SAP PM, Maximo or similar.
  • Strong organisational, planning and communication skills.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and problem solving.
