Responsibilities

  • Project Management & Oversight: Lead, monitor, and control the planning, execution, and progress of offshore drilling projects to ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality goals.
  • Budget & Financial Control: Develop, track, and manage project budgets with a focus on cost optimization, risk mitigation, and forecast accuracy.
  • Scheduling & Coordination: Create, maintain, and update comprehensive project schedules using advanced project management tools, ensuring clear communication across functions and timely delivery.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential project risks, develop mitigation plans, and conduct regular risk reviews to minimize disruptions to operations.
  • Performance Analysis: Track and document key project performance indicators, generating detailed reports to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work alongside engineering, procurement, and rig operations teams to align objectives, improve efficiency, and meet project goals.
  • Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the main point of contact for clients and stakeholders, offering regular updates and ensuring expectations are met with professionalism.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure projects comply with applicable regulations, industry standards, and safety guidelines, fostering a culture of excellence and integrity.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field. PMP, CAPM, or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
  • Experience: A minimum of 7 years of experience in project management, with specific expertise in offshore drilling. Prior experience as a Project Controller is preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Deep understanding of offshore drilling operations, equipment, and systems.
    • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera, or equivalent).
    • Advanced knowledge of financial controls, forecasting, and cost management practices.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to engage diverse teams.
    • Effective leadership and negotiation skills with a commitment to fostering inclusivity and collaboration.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations in offshore drilling.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work in dynamic environments and handle complex, fast-paced operations.

Day-to-Day

  • Begin your day by reviewing the project’s progress and budget reports, identifying and addressing variances in cost or performance.
  • Conduct team meetings to discuss project updates, milestones, and any emerging risks.
  • Collaborate with global teams, both onshore and offshore, ensuring consistency in operational workflow and providing proactive solutions.
  • Engage with stakeholders, attend client meetings, and deliver insightful presentations on project status and performance.
  • Update project schedules and reallocate resources as needed based on real-time conditions and evolving requirements.
  • Partner with safety officers to review and implement safety guidelines across project operations.
  • End the day by analyzing KPI metrics, generating reports, and preparing for the next phase of operational tasks.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

For Dynamic Positioning Operators (DPO):

  • Use and keep an eye on the dynamic positioning systems (DPS) to make sure the rig stays in the right spot while we drill.
  • Help set up, test, and calibrate dynamic positioning systems and related gear.
  • Work with the navigation and drilling teams to keep everything safe and running smoothly.
  • Quickly respond to alarms or issues so the vessel stays stable and safe.
  • Do regular maintenance checks and troubleshoot the DP system and its parts.
  • Follow all safety rules, operational guidelines, and environmental regulations.
  • Keep great communication with the bridge team, other crew members, and the onshore team.

For Senior Dynamic Positioning Operators (SDPO):

  • Take charge of DP operations, ensuring everything runs safely and reliably during drilling.
  • Mentor and guide DPOs and junior team members, helping them grow their skills.
  • Solve tricky system issues with your technical expertise.
  • Work closely with the Master, Chief Officer, and other teams to hit positioning goals efficiently.
  • Run audits and performance checks to keep systems in top shape.
  • Promote a safety-first attitude and inspire the team to follow suit.
  • Keep up to speed on the latest DP regulations and industry trends.

What We’re Looking For

  • A valid Dynamic Positioning Operator Certification (DPO) from a recognized institution.
  • At least 3 years' experience using DP systems in offshore drilling (SDPOs should have 5+ years).
  • Solid understanding of drilling vessel operations, navigation, and rig positioning basics.
  • Hands-on experience with DP systems like Kongsberg, Rolls Royce, or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of safety guidelines and environmental rules in the offshore world.
  • Top-notch problem-solving skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
