EC&I Technician – Energy from Waste Facility


Overview

An Energy from Waste facility is seeking an experienced Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) Technician to support the safe and reliable operation of the plant.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the EC&I Technician will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing electrical, instrumentation and control systems that support critical plant operations.


Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Installation

  • Install, inspect, calibrate and repair instrumentation, analysers and control systems

  • Maintain electrical equipment including motors, generators, turbine control systems and auxiliary equipment

  • Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance activities across the plant

Fault Finding & Diagnostics

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot faults within PLC and DCS control systems

  • Identify electrical, instrumentation and control faults and implement effective repairs

  • Support plant reliability through timely response to breakdowns and system issues

Technical Work

  • Interpret schematics, technical drawings and OEM manuals

  • Plan and execute maintenance work in line with plant procedures

  • Ensure equipment operates efficiently and within operational parameters

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and technical documentation

  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with site HSE procedures

  • Support continuous improvement and plant reliability initiatives


Qualifications

  • Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship in Electrical, Instrumentation or similar discipline

  • IOSH Managing Safely or similar safety qualification preferred

  • HNC/HND in Engineering desirable

  • Technical training in instrumentation, automation or control systems advantageous


Experience

  • Approximately 5 years’ experience as an EC&I or Instrumentation Technician

  • Experience working in industrial, power generation or process plant environments

  • Strong knowledge of transmitters, control valves, analysers and calibration processes

  • Experience working with PLC and DCS control systems

  • Good understanding of safe plant operations and HSE requirements
