Production Controller – Welding / Cladding (Wellhead Equipment)

An established engineering and specialist manufacturing business based in Glasgow is seeking an experienced Production Controller to join their growing operations team.
The company delivers specialist weld cladding and fabrication services for wellhead and critical oil & gas components, supporting clients across the energy sector from a well-equipped manufacturing facility in Glasgow.
This is a key position within the business, working closely with the General Manager, shop floor teams and welding engineers to coordinate production activities and ensure efficient workflow across the facility.
The Role
Key responsibilities will include:
• Producing shop floor travellers and route cards for manufacturing
• Managing production planning and scheduling across multiple cladding cells
• Coordinating workflow across weld cladding and fabrication operations
• Arranging and managing sub-contract operations
• Monitoring production efficiency and output rates
• Maintaining stock control and supporting month-end processes
• Addressing production issues and improving operational flow
• Ensuring health & safety compliance across production activities
The role requires close collaboration with production teams to ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently and to required standards, particularly within high-spec cladding operations for wellhead components.
Key Requirements
The successful candidate will come from a welding, cladding or heavy engineering environment, ideally with exposure to oil & gas or wellhead-related manufacturing.
Essential experience includes:
• Experience working with weld cladding processes, ideally on wellhead or pressure-critical components
• Knowledge of Fronius welding equipment, ideally including:
– PA9000
– Endless Torch Rotation systems
– Compacting Cladding Cell
– PA2003
• Experience in production planning / production control within a manufacturing environment
• Ability to produce and manage production documentation and schedules
• Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with shop floor teams
• Good IT and organisational skills
Desirable
• Previous experience working on wellhead equipment, valves, or pressure-containing components
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 or ISO 3834 standards
• Experience within specialist weld cladding or overlay operations
