Private Client Director
Location: British Virgin Islands (BVI)
Reporting To: Managing Partner
About the Opportunity
Our client is a leading global legal and professional services firm with a strong international presence across key financial centres. Due to continued growth within its private wealth and fiduciary services practice, the firm is seeking an experienced Private Client Director to lead and expand its BVI-based private client offering.
This is a senior leadership position responsible for managing complex international client relationships, driving business growth, overseeing fiduciary operations, and leading a high-performing team serving ultra-high-net-worth individuals, family offices, trusts, foundations, and private investment structures.
The successful candidate will combine exceptional client management skills with deep technical expertise in trust and corporate services, alongside proven leadership experience gained within an international fiduciary, legal, trust, or private wealth environment.
Key Responsibilities
Client Leadership & Relationship Management
- Act as the senior relationship lead for a portfolio of high-value international private clients and family office structures.
- Provide strategic guidance on trust, corporate, succession planning, governance, and wealth preservation matters.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, intermediaries, legal advisers, investment managers, and other professional partners.
- Ensure the delivery of exceptional client service standards across all engagements.
Operational & Fiduciary Oversight
- Provide oversight of trust, company, foundation, and private wealth structures administered by the firm.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory, governance, risk, and fiduciary obligations.
- Review and approve significant transactions, client decisions, and operational matters.
- Work closely with legal, compliance, risk, and finance teams to maintain best-practice standards.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of private client professionals.
- Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and client-centric service.
- Support succession planning, talent development, and recruitment initiatives.
- Drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement across the division.
Risk & Governance
- Maintain a strong risk management framework across all client structures.
- Ensure adherence to local and international regulatory requirements, AML/CFT obligations, and internal policies.
- Participate in governance committees and senior management forums as required.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 10 years' senior leadership experience within private client, fiduciary, trust, legal, wealth management, or family office services.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex international private wealth structures.
- Proven track record of leading teams and overseeing significant client portfolios.
- Strong business development experience with an established professional network.
- Experience working within offshore financial centres and cross-border environments.
Technical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of trusts, fiduciary services, corporate structures, foundations, succession planning, and wealth preservation strategies.
- Excellent knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements affecting private wealth and fiduciary businesses.
- Familiarity with BVI, Cayman Islands, Channel Islands, UK, or other leading international financial centres is highly desirable.
Qualifications
- Relevant professional qualification such as STEP, TEP, ICSA/CGI, ACA, ACCA, CPA, Law Degree, or equivalent.
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- Advanced professional qualifications are advantageous.
