Day Shift Team Leader
Location: Glasgow

Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
About the Opportunity
Our client is a leading operator of critical industrial process facilities and is seeking an experienced Day Shift Team Leader to oversee the safe and efficient operation of a large-scale process plant in Glasgow.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced operations leader from industries such as power generation, energy from waste, petrochemical, oil & gas, chemical processing, manufacturing or other heavy industrial environments.
Reporting to the Assistant Operations Manager, you will lead the day shift operational team, ensuring the safe execution of maintenance activities, contractor management, operational compliance and continuous improvement across the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the day shift operational team to ensure the safe and efficient running of the facility.
- Manage Permit to Work and Safe Systems of Work processes.
- Coordinate contractors and maintenance activities across site.
- Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and company procedures.
- Monitor plant performance and support the delivery of operational KPIs.
- Lead toolbox talks, safety briefings and daily operational meetings.
- Support planned outages, shutdowns and maintenance activities.
- Investigate incidents, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across operations.
- Develop and coach team members, ensuring competence and compliance.
- Maintain operational records, reports and shift documentation.
- Work collaboratively with Engineering, Maintenance and other site departments to maximise plant availability.
About You
To be successful you will ideally have:
- Experience leading teams within a heavy industrial or continuous process environment.
- Strong knowledge of Permit to Work and Safe Systems of Work.
- Experience coordinating contractors and maintenance activities.
- Excellent Health & Safety awareness with experience working within COMAH or other highly regulated environments.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to make operational decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience of continuous improvement and operational performance management.
Desirable
- HNC or equivalent engineering or process qualification.
- IOSH Managing Safely and/or NEBOSH qualification.
- Experience as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) or equivalent.
- Experience leading planned outages or shutdowns.
- Knowledge of CMMS or maintenance management systems.
