Are you an experienced Operations Manager with a passion for leading people, driving continuous improvement and maintaining the highest standards of health & safety?

Our client, a leading organisation operating within the hazardous waste and environmental services sector, is looking to appoint an Operations Manager to lead a busy processing facility in Nottinghamshire.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business where you'll have the autonomy to lead a large operational team, drive performance improvements and play a key role in developing a positive safety culture.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Operations, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day management of a hazardous waste processing facility, leading approximately 25 operational staff while ensuring operations are carried out safely, efficiently and in full compliance with environmental legislation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading, motivating and developing operational teams.
  • Driving operational performance through KPIs and continuous improvement.
  • Championing Health & Safety and environmental compliance.
  • Implementing Lean initiatives including 5S, Kaizen and visual management.
  • Managing operational projects and process improvements.
  • Working closely with transport, maintenance and other internal departments.
  • Building strong relationships with customers, contractors and key stakeholders.
  • Promoting a culture of accountability, teamwork and operational excellence.

About You

You'll have previous experience as an Operations Manager, Site Manager or Plant Manager within a regulated operational environment.

Ideally you'll have experience within:

  • Hazardous Waste
  • Waste Management
  • Recycling
  • Environmental Services
  • Chemical Processing
  • Heavy Industrial or Process Manufacturing

You'll also possess:

  • Strong people management and leadership experience.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
  • Experience driving operational improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive, hands-on leadership style.

Desirable

  • Waste industry experience.
  • WAMITAB/COTC qualification.
  • Behavioural safety or culture change experience.

  • Salary £57,000 - £65,000 (flexibility available for exceptional candidates).
