Health & Safety Advisor

Location: Birmingham

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join a well-established organisation operating within the UK's renewable energy and industrial processing sector.

This is a highly visible, site-based role supporting a large operational facility where you'll work closely with operations, engineering, maintenance and contractors to promote a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with company standards and UK legislation.

You'll become a trusted advisor to site leadership, helping to drive continuous improvement while remaining actively involved in day-to-day operational activities across the plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive health and safety support to operational and engineering teams.
  • Carry out site inspections, audits and safety tours.
  • Lead accident, incident and near-miss investigations.
  • Review Risk Assessments, Method Statements and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Support contractor management and Permit to Work activities.
  • Deliver toolbox talks, inductions and safety training.
  • Coach managers and operational teams to improve health and safety performance.
  • Support maintenance activities and planned outages.
  • Monitor legislative compliance and company standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

About You

You'll have previous experience working within a heavy industrial environment and enjoy working closely with operational teams.

You'll also possess:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate.
  • Around five years' Health & Safety experience.
  • Experience investigating incidents and implementing corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Contractor management and auditing experience.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach to health and safety.
