Health & Safety Advisor
Location: Near Lanark, South Lanarkshire

The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join a growing organisation operating within the UK's renewable energy and industrial processing sector.
This is a highly visible, site-based position where you'll play a key role in developing and embedding a proactive health and safety culture across a large operational facility. Working closely with the Plant Manager, operational teams, engineering and contractors, you'll be instrumental in driving continuous improvement and ensuring the site operates safely and compliantly.
This role would suit someone who enjoys building relationships on site, influencing behaviours and becoming a trusted member of the operational team rather than working purely from an office.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day health and safety advice and support to operational teams, supervisors and managers.
- Carry out regular workplace inspections, audits and safety tours across the site.
- Lead and support accident, incident and near-miss investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Review and develop Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS) and Safe Systems of Work.
- Support contractor management processes and ensure compliance with site standards.
- Deliver toolbox talks, inductions and health & safety training.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through coaching, engagement and behavioural safety initiatives.
- Support engineering activities, maintenance work and planned outages from a health and safety perspective.
- Monitor compliance with UK health and safety legislation and company procedures.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across the site.
About You
We're looking for someone with practical experience gained within a heavy industrial or process environment.
Ideally you'll have experience in one or more of the following:
- Power Generation
- Energy from Waste
- Biomass
- Manufacturing
- Chemical / COMAH
- Cement
- Aggregates
- Utilities
- Heavy Industrial Processing
You'll also have:
- NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)
- Around five years' Health & Safety experience.
- Experience carrying out incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Strong knowledge of Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
- Contractor management experience.
- Exposure to ISO 45001 management systems and auditing.
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to positively influence operational teams.
