An established energy operator is looking to appoint a Mechanical Site Engineer to support the operation and maintenance of a Biomass energy facility.
This is a hands-on role focused on maintaining plant performance, reliability, and compliance across a busy industrial site.
The Role
- Carry out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance on biomass and gas boiler systems
- Diagnose faults, troubleshoot issues, and complete repairs to minimise downtime
- Support the continuous operation of the plant through routine inspections and monitoring
- Assist with fuel handling operations, including deliveries, testing, and system feeding
- Work closely with site teams and contractors to coordinate maintenance activities
- Participate in the on-call rota responding to plant issues and outages
- Maintain accurate maintenance, compliance, and HSEQ records
Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical maintenance across boilers, pumps, valves, and associated systems
- Monitoring plant performance and adjusting where required
- Ensuring compliance with industry regulations and site procedures
- Supporting subcontractor activities and permit systems
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and safety across the site
- Supporting stock control for tools and spare parts
Requirements
- Mechanical engineering qualification (NVQ / C&G / HNC or equivalent)
- Strong experience in an industrial or energy environment
- Experience working with boilers, steam systems, or similar plant
- Good understanding of HSEQ standards and compliance
- Ability to work independently and respond to callouts
Desirable
- Biomass or energy-from-waste experience
- BOAS certification (Steam)
- Telehandler licence
- Experience using CMMS / DCS / BMS systems
